Tired of waiting forever for your computer to boot up? Does it take your computer more than five minutes to get to a point where you can actually work on it? Your slow windows startup may be caused by an excessive number of programs opening during the windows startup sequence. If you know this is the case with your computer, you may be wondering why this Computer Problem is happening in the first place. It may be the result of excessive software installations, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's just that installing too many new programs and having them all start up when windows starts up could cause a bottleneck and slow things down. Many people are unaware of the fact that they have an option during the installation process of their new software to decide whether or not to launch the program when the operating system starts up. This would be the point at which you would decide whether or not you actually need the program to start right away. Other than the system specific items that need to be started right away and perhaps the antivirus software that you have installed on you computer, there shouldn't really be a need to start any other programs at that time. How do you avoid this type of Computer Problem? When you install a new program onto your computer, you should have the option of whether or not to start the program on Windows startup. At this point you would simply select no and continue on with the installation. The fewer items you have running on startup, the less time it will take for your PC to boot up.
If you would like to review the current startup file and the programs that exist in that file, you may do so by navigating to the Administrative Tools section of the control panel and then view the System Configuration section. Here you will see Startup tab which identifies all of the programs that are set to open on startup. You can review the list and identify which ones no longer need to open on startup and then remove them from the list. Apply your settings and then restart your computer. The next time you boot up your computer, pay attention to the time it takes to finally get to your desktop to be able to start working. Does it appear to take a really long time? If so, you may need to review your startup file to see if you could possibly save some time by eliminating programs from this list. You might just be surprised at the results and will have overcome another common Computer Problem.
